As a Nova Scotia Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) Safety
Certified audit provider, Occupational Health & Educational Services (OHES)
is dedicated to helping organizations create safer, more efficient workplaces
by offering a comprehensive suite of services designed to meet their
occupational health and safety needs. Our primary focus is to ensure compliance
with WCB regulations, but we go beyond that by fostering a culture of safety
that benefits both employees and employers.
Occupational Health and Safety Audits are a core
service we offer, where our team conducts detailed audits and inspections of
workplaces to assess their adherence to WCB standards. These audits not only
help organizations comply with legal regulations but also identify areas for
improvement in their safety practices. By enhancing workplace safety through
these audits, companies can significantly reduce the risk of accidents and
injuries.
We also specialize in Workplace Safety Training and
Education, offering a wide range of training programs tailored to the
specific needs of each organization. These programs empower both employees and
employers to develop and maintain safe working environments. Our training
covers essential areas such as Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees
(JOHSC) and Safety Representatives, Accident Investigation, Conducting
Inspections, WHMIS, First Aid, and Forklift operation, among others. These
courses equip teams with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively
manage safety hazards and respond to incidents in the workplace.
In addition to training, OHES provides Risk Assessment
and Management services, working closely with management and employees to
identify potential hazards and develop effective strategies to mitigate risks.
Our collaborative approach ensures that safety is integrated into every aspect
of the workplace, from daily operations to long-term planning. By proactively
addressing potential dangers, organizations can prevent accidents before they
happen, which ultimately leads to a safer, more productive environment.
Our Health and Safety Program Development services
support organizations in building and maintaining robust occupational health
and safety systems. We help businesses create, implement, and update safety
policies and procedures that meet or exceed the stringent requirements of the
23-element WCB Safety Certified Audit. These programs are essential for
fostering a culture of safety and ensuring that companies remain compliant with
all regulatory standards while continuously improving their safety performance.
One of the key services we offer is WCB Certification
Assistance, where we guide organizations through the often-complex process
of becoming WCB certified. We provide expert advice and hands-on support to
ensure that businesses meet or exceed the safety standards set by the WCB.
Achieving certification not only demonstrates a company’s commitment to safety
but also opens the door to various financial incentives and benefits associated
with maintaining a safe workplace.
Ultimately, the goal of OHES is to help organizations not
only comply with their legal responsibilities but also realize the significant
long-term benefits of a safer workplace. Reducing the number of lost-time
injuries is crucial, as it directly contributes to lower workers' compensation
claims, reduced medical expenses, and decreased insurance premiums. A proactive
approach to occupational health and safety creates a more efficient workplace,
improves employee morale, and enhances overall business performance. At OHES,
we believe that investing in safety is not just about compliance—it's about
building a sustainable future for both businesses and their employees.
